OR Start out from the shallow shores of Carrabelle Beach. Paddle onto the open waters of St. George Sound and further to the Gulf of Mexico. Stop off on exclusive Dog Island where shelling is premium or frolic with the dolphins as you head across the channel to St. George Island State Park. - Fishing on the bay, rivers, gulf or bayous- catch trout, redfish, catfish, grouper and more. Guides available, fishing license required.
- Birding, a birdwatchers dream, warblers, herons, egrets, storks, Roseate spoonbills, bald eagles, Anhingas, woodpeckers, hummingbirds, kites, cardinals, bluebirds…. Hundreds of species. Cheryl Ann Griffin, a local avid birder said, “It’s possible to see 100 birds a day during the migratory periods.” (spring and fall). So get out your binoculars. On the water or land, guides are available.
- Florae & Faunae: pine forests to cypress swamps, dwarf cypress, marshes, and a favorite, the pitcher plant bogs. Bears, panthers, alligators, birds, fish, foxes, coyotes, wolves, deer, flora and fauna…are all possible to site. Photography buffs will love it here. Wildlife guides available.
